Milton Keynes Community Boat – Join the Crew on 20 November!

Following two successful public meetings held during the summer, Bedford and Milton Keynes Waterways Trust is inviting local residents to attend an open meeting on Wednesday 20 November 7-9pm at the Parks Trust HQ, to discuss the newest addition to Milton Keynes – a community trip boat to be based at Campbell Wharf.

With aspirations for a fully-accessible all-electric 12-seater ‘green’ boat running trips along the Grand Union Canal from its base at Campbell Wharf, the project has the potential to bring a new offer to Milton Keynes – and something everyone can enjoy.

The team is keen to meet local people who are interested in the project and would like to share their ideas and experiences and maybe get involved.

This meeting will focus on electric power and funding for the boat, with founder of local electric charging company Chargemaster David Martell talking about the boat’s propulsion; and Peter Cusdin, Development Director at Crest Nicholson, who have already pledged their support to the project, discussing progress at the boat’s future base in the new Campbell Wharf development, as well as the team’s progress in seeking additional sponsors.

Trust volunteers will be on hand to talk about the roles of volunteers needed to crew the boat, and there will be a workshop session where attendees can choose the group they join to discuss crew requirements, social media and crowdfunding, and cruise trip planning.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday 20th November, from 7pm to 9pm at The Parks Trust, The Pavilion, 1300 Silbury Boulevard, Milton Keynes MK9 4AD.
