Electra Specials for August

Each month we run one or more special events, usually in partnership with other local organisations.

Sunday 01 August: Boat Experience as part of MK African & Caribbean Sports & Heritage Day

SORRY! BOAT MINI TRIPS NOW FULL BOOKED!

We hope you enjoy the rest of the Day. Click the poster for details.

Milton Keynes Community Boat Electra is offering 6 Free ‘Mini-Trips’ to people attending the African Caribbean Sports & Heritage Day in Campbell Park.

Tickets are for 20-minute mini-trips on the new community canal boat Electra. Trips depart every hour from the start of this event until mid-afternoon. Ideal for families, as it is an experience your children will never forget.

To secure your place and be among the first ever guests on Electra, you must book your free ticket in advance and bring it with you to show on the day.

There are 8 places on each trip so please book early to avoid disappointment.

These special tickets are free of charge, but we’d be delighted if you would make a donation to support ACAH Union’s work with youth

You need to meet up with us at the time on your ticket, by the orange “Electra” flag at the Canal & River Trust stall at this event, which will be in the Amphitheatre in Campbell Park  ///worthy.relax.lotteries is the 3-word location for the Amphitheatre, not the exact location of the stall).

Electra will be waiting for you on the canal at Campbell Wharf and we will take you to the boat.  A volunteer Guide will lead you through the park on a short walk to the spot where Electra is moored, and you will be welcomed on board by our Skipper and Cabin Host for a 20-minute mini-trip.

Once on board you will soon experience how an all-electric boat glides quietly through the water and see a whole new view of Campbell Park out of the big picture windows. You will also see the start of the new Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway Park which will, we hope, in future link Milton Keynes to Bedford.

Then Electra turns around and heads back to the mooring, where your Guide will lead you back to the event. It’s a short trip that will introduce you to Electra as the community boat for the whole of Milton Keynes … and hopefully make you want to come for a longer cruise sometime soon!

Saturday 7th August – Electra at Fenny Stratford Canal Festival

On 7 August you can book online a Public Walk One Way Cruise, from Campbell Wharf to Fenny Stratford, or from Fenny Stratford to Campbell Wharf. Make your own way in the other direction with a gentle 90-minute stroll along the towpath past Simpson and Woughton – or travel by some other means! Click Book a Public Cruise.

While you’re in Fenny Stratford, browse the trading boats at the Canal Festival (on the canal towpath just south of Bridge 96 (under Watling St, Fenny Stratford). Visit the Grade II listed Red Lion pub by Fenny Stratford Lock, explore the eateries on Aylesbury Street, or wander on down to Waterhall Park – the Parks Trust’s newest park, which is full of wildlife.

On 7 August also, Electra will be running three special Short Cruises from the Canal Festival site. Buy your ticket on the day from the Electra crew (card payment only) at the Festival site. We can take 8 guests on each cruise. The photo shows where we’ll be moored, ready to turn and go south.
